The Wada around which the painting revolves, is the huge farm house that my grandfather owned in a village in Maharashtra   and where I spent winter/summer vacations in my growing up years. I was always enchanted by the view of the small hamlet from the balcony above entrance. The villagers would rest on the platforms on either side of the entrance. The sunflowers in my Grandfather’s farm, always looking towards the sun and supporting each other would brighten up my mind and fill the heart with pleasure. The image of the Wada, the backdrop of mountains, the temples, tiled roofed houses, the bullock carts and the vision of bright sunflowers are all that I need to enliven my mood even while sitting hundreds of miles away.
